BEST AUTOFLOWER YIELD – HOW MUCH CANNABIS CAN I GET?

There are many things to be thinking about for the best autoflower yield. Following the numbers that the cannabis seed bank suggests takes effort and is only really a general guide. Having the ideal balance of light, good seed genetics, plant nutrients, plant training, and environment play an important role in final yields. Plan ahead and have the things on hand to give your plants the love they need to grow.

It’s critical that you provide the top conditions if you want the highest yields. Having the best environment for your cannabis plants will help them perform their growth processes such as photosynthesis and transpiration. You can grow autoflowers without doing that much, but if you’re looking to make the most out of every feminized cannabis seed you will have to dial in the growing conditions as much as possible.

FACTORS AFFECTING AUTOFLOWER YIELD

THE GROW ENVIRONMENT OR WEATHER

When growing autoflowering cannabis strains outdoors, the climate plays one of the most important roles in your final autoflower yield.

Outdoor cannabis cultivators rely on the changing seasons to be able to get a good yield from their autoflowers. Autoflowering marijuana plants rely on the correct temperature, humidity, and amount of sunlight to thrive. These environmental conditions will reflect directly on the quantity and quality of your autoflower yield.

People who live in tropical climates will be able to grow autoflower cannabis seeds all year round with amazing results. Those of us who experience short summers with brutal winters may not yield as much as someone in a hot climate, who can expect to grow several times a year with excellent results.

By growing indoors you won’t have to worry as much about the weather conditions. You will be controlling every aspect of the grow room conditions, this can be a game-changer for more experienced cannabis growers. If you’re new to growing weed indoors, it can be a little tricky if you don’t have the right growing equipment.

POT SIZE

Not everyone has the space to give each plant a meter square of grow space. Some growers have to resort to a smaller, more discreet autoflower plant.

Once you have assessed where you’re going to grow your marijuana plants, you will have to choose either a small or large planter pot. The size will end up changing how large your autoflower plant grows and ultimately, the yields.

There is no need to use a pot larger than 5 gallons to grow an autoflower cannabis plant. The root system that develops in 8 to 10 weeks will be supported by a 5-gallon pot. Using fabric pots and planting on the ground will allow even more expansion of the root system.

NUTRIENTS USED

Giving your autoflowers a rich source of macronutrients, and micronutrients is certainly one of the better ways to enhance autoflower yield. Investing in making good organic nutrients or even a complete living soil will give your plants a natural boost.

Both synthetic and organic plant nutrients feed your autoflower plants but they do it differently.

Organic feeding establishes a good soil environment with beneficial organisms that form a symbiosis with your marijuana plant. Natural fungi feed on the plant sugars produced by the plant breaking down nutrients which makes it easier for your plant to absorb nutrients.

Synthetic nutrients

These feed the roots directly, eliminating some of the need to maintain a healthy soil environment. Synthetic nutrients can actually kill the beneficial organisms in the soil. It’s easier to overfeed with synthetic nutrients causing a nutrient burn.

Follow the spec sheet on the side of the nutrients when feeding if you aren’t a professional grower.

Only feed your cannabis plant with plain water for the final 2 weeks, this will allow the plant to absorb all unused nutrients left in the growing medium.

PLANT COUNT

Another big factor affecting your final autoflower yield is the number of weed plants you have in your grow room. You may opt to grow a few large-sized autoflower plants. Some people choose many small plants packed together in a cannabis Sea of green. Each autoflower growing method has its own advantages and disadvantages.

If you’re growing in a square yard of grow space you will have to choose between growing just one or two big autoflowers or grow 8 smaller autoflowers, this is up to the grower.

If growing many small autoflower plants together, then make sure the autoflower strain is well suited for that tight growing setup. You want to buy shorter autoflower strains that grow fairly small. You can fit up to 12 autoflowers in a square yard, planting in 2-gallon pots.

Maximize your autoflower yield with our top tips!

Weed plant training is one of the top methods to maximize your grow space and produce an autoflower cannabis crop that is easy to manage. Marijuana Autoflower seeds make it easier to maintain a continuous harvest since they grow from seed to harvest in 8 to 10 weeks. When growing a fast strain of autoflowering cannabis you can harvest new plants weekly. This can also be done in the same grow room and under the same unchanging photoperiod(light) cycle.

Add plant support stakes early and bend your weed plants to maximize the size of your plant’s canopy. Supports will come in handy again later to hold up your heavy buds later in the growing cycle.

Top training methods to increase Autoflower Yield of Cannabis

There are two types of cannabis plant training, Low Stress and High-Stress training, both help growers to modify and shape the structure of autoflower plants. They either train their plants to make the most out of their available light or control the size of their plants in a small space.

LOW STRESS PLANT TRAINING

Low-stress training means bending and tying down the highest growth of the plant. This will help to create an even-growing canopy with many more bud sites. It’s best to avoid any plant training after your autoflowering plants have started their flowering stage. Using a Screen of Green setup can increase autoflower yield and make for a much more efficient grow room.

Practice your training techniques on your less prized cannabis autoflower seeds until you get good at it. You may end up stressing your auto flower and that would end up giving you a low autoflower yield.

SEA OF GREEN

Large scale Sea of Green

When choosing a SCRoG setup, you can get away with growing from 3-5 autoflowers in 2 or 3-gallon pots in a 4 ft by 4 ft grow tent. As long as you’re not overstressing your plants and you’ll get a canopy that covers your entire grow area.

High-stress training

High-Stress Training or HST means mutilating your weed plants, either by defoliating or the topping/fimming technique.

Does topping help with autoflower yield

Topping can give you excellent results with photoperiod cannabis but it is too stressful for autoflowers weed plants. The plant needs time to recover after topping and time is critical with autoflower cannabis plants. You only have a limited time to grow and flower your plants so avoid high-stress training.

Fimming to increase yields

Fimming is actually no different than topping. It is virtually the same thing only your leaving part of the new growth. This only takes off part of the new growth and actually topping the very very new growth which is very hard to see.

What this ends up doing is making it seem as if you’re getting 4 new tops right next to each other. Actually, it’s only 2 at the very top (like topping) but since it was cut so close to the next newest set of fan leaves, 2 branches that would have formed there anyways make it appear that there are 4 new tops.

This is how you go about doing this.

  1. Locate the very top of the new growth
  1. With a clean sterilized scissors, Fold the fan leafs over and cut approximately 80% of the new growth off the plant.
  1. View from the top showing the Cut
  1. View of the Cut portion after 2 days of growth, showing the 4 new shoots or branches

You’re done! You should be well versed with Topping and Fimming of your weed plants.

THE GROWER CAN HELP INCREASE AUTOFLOWER YIELD

If you’re growing weed in your closet and want to make the most out of each seed, then finding the best cannabis genetics to help in this job will put you a step ahead. Growing the top-yielding autoflower plants is the way to get the best yields but there are some things you should know.

  1. Sativa-dominant hybrids won’t always give you a bigger yield than more than Indica-dominant seeds. Although Sativas typically grow taller and have more bud sites. Indicas produce a more dense bud that can end up weighing more at the final harvest.
  2. Some autoflower strains may take longer to bud and get a yield than others.
  3. Certain strains are better suited for different climates and growing conditions.
